Dave Martin

Dave Martin grew up in a golf family. His father Don Martin was an outstanding regional golfer having won the N.Y. State Senior Amateur Championship in his competitive years. Dave was a very successful junior and amateur golfer having won numerous state and regional titles and earning a golf scholarship to Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where he was a four year letter-man. In addition, his competitive experience includes seven national championships conducted by the USGA & PGA of America. Dave recently retired after 40 seasons as the Head Golf Professional at the Pittsburgh Field Club.

Prior to his start as the PFC Head Professional in 1982, Dave apprenticed at Wanakah CC (Hamburg, NY), Pittsburgh Field Club and River Oaks CC (Houston, TX). While at River Oaks CC, Dave shaped much of his teaching foundation having the privilege of working with Dick Harmon, the family patriarch Claude Harmon, and the soon to be famous Butch Harmon.

Dave has taught numerous junior and amateur golfers who have won local, regional and state championships and successfully competed at the collegiate level. In addition, Dave has appeared numerous times on Golf Digest’s list - Best Teachers in Pennsylvania.

As a longtime mentor of young professionals, Dave has seen many former assistant Professionals achieve their own success in the golf industry throughout the eastern United States.
